So shall it be written, so shall it be done! Yul Brenner is reason numero uno why I continue to watch the Ten Commandments every year around Easter.

But on to the real reason I am writing this post. Recently, I completed my first e-book. It's all about self-esteem and the importance of self improvement for young women and girls. And, to top it all off, it's FREE!

Just click on the image and it is yours!…

On January 19th, we celebrated the life of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Hopefully, many of you participated in one of the many opportunities to serve your community. The following day, we witnessed history as Barack Obama became the first African American to take the oath of office for the presidency of the United States

In keeping with Obama's message of hope, and in keeping with our mission, is offering more in 2009! We're… Continue

What is Super Hussy Media?

We are an independently operated outfit whose goal is to explore black life as it relates to women and girls, across place, class, time and sexuality. Our projects are intensely personal and through them, we hope to shed light on the contradictions, triumphs, perils, and beauty that is black womanhood. Super Hussy Media is dedicated to exploring the everyday within the black diaspora, particularly the true lives of young women, girls and families.

For far too long, black girlhood, black women and the black family have been dismissed, ignored or used as the canvas where society paints all of its ills. Black females have become the face of poverty; the face of promiscuity; and the face of all that is negative within the black community and society at large.

We at Super Hussy Media investigate what it is to black and female in all of its many facets. Black women come in every shade, economic and social class and inhabit the spectrum of sexual orientations. Yet, what we see of black women is that they are either hypersexual booty shakers, deviants, unfit and uncaring mothers, superstar performers, or Oprah (not that there is anything wrong with being Oprah, ahem.)

We utilize the lives of black women and families, both historic and contemporary as a tool for empowerment. By illuminating the hardships, triumphs, struggles and and complexities of black womanhood, we seek to change the paradigm through which black women are viewed and ultimately, how they view themselves.

Through books, film, workshops and whatever else floats our boat, we shall show and prove!
