Happy Mother's Day

Thank you for loving your son and teaching him that love is full of strength. For sharing the things you never had and giving that extra tenth. Thank you for being a sister through all of those struggles you helped your brother survive. For standing strong in his adversity when he wanted to take a dive. Thanks for being the favorite aunt when your nephew was living his dramas. For being the judge, jury and defense: Point blank, no question marks or commas. Used But Not Abused

Things are meant to be used, taken care of and put back in its place. This same concept should apply to people and relationships. Healthy relationships are built within a cycle of give and take, not take, take, take some more and then walk away without giving of our self or throwing the person or relationship to the side feeling taken advantage of until it is time to be abused again. People like to be needed but not taken advantage of and they react when they feel misused. I think we all become… Continue

Say What You Mean - Mean What You Say

When we want to get a point across, it is always best to express ourselves clearly. We have to say exactly what we mean and we can't change the meaning of our words when we are questioned about our statements. We have to stand behind our word, because it becomes our bond to those that receive it. Once a word leaves our mouth it becomes a part of history, and although history can be made, history can not be changed. When we contribute to our history, our history should be a history that is solid… Continue

Don't Turn Back

Most of us have taken steps forward in life and left behind memories of some times that we lived life at less than our best. Not only did we not meet our own expectations, we sometimes disappointed those that meant the most to us - including ourselves. We have overcome situ… Continue

Be Aware Of Your Surroundings

We are most at ease when we are familiar with the surrounding that we are in. This includes family, friends, living environments, employment situations and things that are part of our daily routine. When something or someone visibly threatens any of these things we react accordingly, but how do we react when things are not what they seem or when we can’t see that things are not how they seem? Usually we become reactive to the situation and become defensive, because there is no way for us to be p… Continue

Comfort and Safety

The only true safety or comfort zones exist in living a life that is true to who we really are. Even when we feel safe with a friendship, relationship, or set of circumstances, someone else’s truth or something unexpected might trigger feelings that can erase all traces of the safety and comfort that we once felt. Safety and comfort are feelings or state of minds, and we have control over our feelings of safety and comfort just like every other state of mind or mood that we have. We must open o… Continue

What's The Purpose?

Not getting the results that we would like to see, outcome we prefer, and doing things for no personal pleasure or growth has us asking the question: What's the purpose? The purpose is for us to share the things that we receive. If all we do is expect to get things for our actions, we soon run out of space to receive the blessings that we seek. We must learn to be appreciative and to show gratitude for the moments and things that we have. Gratitude is not just a "feel good" emotion it is actual… Continue

Thoughts and Actions

We would be living in a world full of silence if children didn't believe that the sounds coming from their mouths made sense and that they could communicate with others by using these sounds to get their point across. What's even more amazing is that these same children believed that they could communicate even further by learning to understand the sounds that come from other children and adults. I'm glad we all believed enough in ourselves and expected enough from ourselves to be able to commun… Continue

Smile

One of the best ways to raise your spirits that I know is to take the time to smile. Not only does a smile show that you are feeling good, it actually creates a comfortable atmosphere for those around you. We can never know the truth extent of happiness a smile brings to another person, but we can try to measure it by happiness that we feel when someone makes us smile.

Flexibilty

Proper preparation prevents poor performance, but we have to adjust to those things that are unexpected and try to handle them with the same expertise as the things that we have prepared for. Things rarely go the exact way we plan, but that doesn't mean that all hope is lost. Planning is always good to have an outline or road map to your desired destination or goal, but we have be ready to face forks in the road and also avenues that have been closed during our planning or without our knowledge… Continue

The Big Picture

Our "Big Picture" of life might be big, beautiful and unique; but we always have remember that it is only a small part of a bigger masterpiece. In order words, our life is part of something bigger than ourselves, because others effect us and we effect others. Our Big Picture is no less important than anyone else's but it will mean much more to us than it will mean to someone else. We have to keep this in mind when we feel like someone is only thinking of theirself. Maybe they are just focusing o… Continue

Your Purpose

There is only one you in the world and only one person that can sing your song, so you are incomparable. You are the best you that was ever created and you are the only person that can fully identify your motivation, values, qualities, and talents. It is up to you find your purpose and carry out the things that bring you meaning and fulfillment.
There is no one that can tell us why we are here, sometimes we are not able to answer that question for ourselves. We have to watch our lives and… Continue

Overcoming Obstacles and Running Into Brick Walls

We will face many issues in our lives on our quest to remain happy, but two of the most common ones are what I will label obstacles and brick walls. The difference in the two are that obstacles are things that we can face and get over in life, but brick walls are things that we will run into continuously until someone knocks them down or we decide to stop running into it. Obstacles make us stronger and build character through the extra effort that we put forth to overcome them. We will face man… Continue

Taking Your Time

We sometimes miss the smallest things in life by moving too fast. We miss the true beauty of things, small details, and important parts of the meaning of things when we move too fast. Slowing down helps us keep track, focus, and relieves the pressure of a “hurry, hurry, hurry lifestyle.”
By rushing we miss things like the way our children, loved ones, and peers are growing. By slowing down our life just a little, we can notice things like our little girls turning into young ladies or our l… Continue

The Power of Fear

Where is all of the violence coming from in our world? Is it the powerful exhibiting their strength to the powerless? Is it the strong preying on the weak? Those are parts of the problem, but it's usually someone trying to prove a point to themself and they try to force their belief on the person being violated. The main ingredient of violence is usually the fear that is inside of the person being violent.

When a person is free of fear they don't feel the need to prove anything to any… Continue

Defining 'Richness'

What does being rich mean to you?
Does it mean having lots of money? If so, how much? Being able to afford homes and cars? Other material things? Having a beautiful family? Peace at mind? Security? Or is it something else?
There is not a person besides yourself that can say if any of these answers are right or wrong. You are the one and only person that can determine the things that will make you feel that your life is full of richness.
You have to look within to discover the t… Continue

Fine Lines

There seems to be fine lines in life that separate needs from wants, realities from dreams and visions, and what we are from what we will become or never will be. These thin lines are different areas and levels of awareness.

The better we become more aware of different areas and aspects of life, the better we become at understanding where one thing ends and the next the next thing begins.

Before we are able to obtain the things that we need in life, we have to understand th… Continue
